Tanto mi vengono a prendere a Orbetello.

SP12 Question of the week #1
What is your favorite summertime drink??
Tonic water with Lemon and iced green tea

SP12 Question of the week #1
As a kid, what did you look forward to most about summer vacation/break/holiday?
When I was a kid, summer meant staying out to play with my friends from the morning 'til sunset. But most of all, every three or four year, my mother and I used to go back to Japan to my grandma's.

I've been complaining about the bad weather for a month, but summer is here now. Too suddenly.

PROS: camisoles, the sun, open air pools, the washing that dries quickly, cold dishes, melon and watermelon.

CONS: sultry weather, driving a car that was parked under the sun, the fact that I cannot go swimming because I have to work, kilos of laundry because everyone is sweating, depilating.

I started a class with two new student in a company. They look smart and promising.

My translation in going on a little bit quicker, but my WIPs proceed very slowly... Adult February Sweater in Malabrigo, the renowned Clapotis in Aade Long Artistic Rainbow, and a striped cowl for a lawyer...

Riflessioni...

WWKIP 2008 in TORINO

WWKIP 2008 in TORINO

A few words on the World Wide Knitting in Public day here in Turin. The result was more than satisfactory: we met new knitters and there was a group of very chic french tourist that was quite interested in what we were doing (they even took pictures!). As always, we had fun, and this is the most important thing . As you can see, the table was fully covered by Cristiana's  projects and a little table was especially prepared to sponsor Cuore di Maglia. We usually have Japanese (me!), German and Danish girls, but this time we had a girl from Israel, and a French (at the S&B in the morning, there were a Brasilian and a Polish girl). The time I spent to organize this event, was worth the effort.

Now I have my WIPs and all my yarn balls all around, but I have to keep myself concentrated on my job (I have a translation that is much harder than what I expected).

giornata intensa...

waking up, taking the Kid to his preschool, picking down the Husband to the garage, then down to Laines du Nord in Alpignano, to pick up the yarn for WWKIP (thanks for your generous gift!!!) that the ladies in Turin will see and touch tomorrow... then I went to a LYS to buy that missing skein to complete a project for the Friend who lives in Australia, and wetn to the Barber shop to check Husband's new hair style, bought some fresh veggies at the market, had a very quick vegan lunch, called the lawyer G., went to pick up the Kid...

I managed to buy a copy of La Stampa (Turin newspaper) and found a column at page 46 that rewarded all the work of these last days, thanks to the invaluable effort of Manu! (and thanks to Cristiana, to whom I stole this picture).

Too many things, and my translations do patiently wait.

ebbbbasta!!!

ZAM! Ecco il temporale in arrivo!

BBBBBBASTAAAA!!!!

It's three weeks it's raining daily... and even when it's sunny, we have sudden evening shower.

I'm eager to wear camisoles and sandals, I want to play in the park with R., I want to eat gelato sitting in Piazza Emanuele Filiberto, and I'm going to spend a week in Monte Argentario at the end of the month. I hope it'll be sunny there.

secret pal 12

It's raining again, so I'll spend some minutes with SECRET PAL 12 questionnaire (I missed the previous ones...)
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I love wool (alpaca, merinos, cashmere blends, etc...). I never used bamboo yarn, so I don't know. What I can say for sure is that I don't like acryl.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Straight needls are stored in a vintage purse sewn by my mother maybe 30 years ago, circulars are in Knitpicks plastic pouch.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I learned to knit in garter stitch when I was in high school, and I re-learned everything (from casting on to lace patterns) last autumn, by myself, with the help of the tips I found on the web.
I worked a lot, and now I consider myself... let's say intermediate.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Yes.

5. What's your favorite scent?
Sandalwood.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
I'm not a sweets lover, but sometimes I eat some dark chocolate.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I'm trying to teach myself to sew. I never spinned, but I'd like to do. I also dyed some wool with turmeric and Kool-Aid.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I like any type of music, from jazz to hard rock, I don't like teenage idols pop music. My mac can play mp3s of course (also my car stereo!).

9. What's your favorite color(s)?
Any colors you just can't stand?
My favourite colors are reds and purples, but I'm on a green mania right now. I don't like pale colors and beige nuances, because they make me look sick.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
My hubby is cat-allergic and we don't have any pets now, but there's a 3 years little boy.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
I always wear scarves or shawls, never wear hats (I knit them for others), rarely wear mittens or gloves.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Cowls are my favourite because they're quick and give instant gratification. It's also a good way to use singles or left over skeins...

13. What are you knitting right now?
Lady February Sweater and a Secret Project.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Yessss.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I like bamboo/wood circular  needles.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
I bought a yarn winder recently, and I'm very satisfied.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?
mmm... A pair of slippers: I made just one.

18. What is your favorite holiday?
25th of April, Italy's liberation day, and it's also my birthday.

19. Is there anything that you collect?
Yarn and shoes.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I have a subscription to Interweave Knits.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
Mmm... don't know...

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
Sock knitting is one the next challenge on the list. I have very tiny feets: eu 34 (uk 1.5 and us 4)

23. When is your birthday?
4/25

24. Are you on Ravelry? If so, what's your ID?

Sure!!! azzuka!!!
